Please welcome Hazel to DRA….

Recent changes to Hazels owners working hours mean that she is not coping well with being left alone for longer hours.  Her surrender has been heart breaking, however Hazels needs have been prioritised and we will do our utmost to ensure that she finds her forever home.

Hazel is a sweet natured dachshund who is likely to bond very closely to her owner.  She is very affectionate and thinks that all laps are hers for the taking once she warms up to you.   She is used to having a quiet home, so a calm home with a regular routine would be ideal for Hazel.  Hazel is very gentle and curious around children who can also understand her boundaries.  We do think that children over 10yo would be best suited though.

Hazel adores her walks and her eyes light up and little tail waggles when she can see her harness and leash. She is a great little walker and will match stride for stride, however she isn’t a fan of dog parks or busy cafes.  Hazel loves her squeaky toys and playing with her ball, however a game of fetch with Hazel can quickly turn into a fun chase around the yard!

While Hazel typically warms to everyone she meets, she can be choosy with her canine pals.  A slow and calm introduction will be required to help Hazel feel comfortable with her new furry siblings.  We trust that her new family is patient and understanding and understands that she isn’t fussed on making friends with all dogs that she meets, sometimes she can give the typical dachie bark at other dogs.

Hazel is a little trooper when it comes to food, she loves all food however she can’t contain her excitement when her favourite treat beef jerky is on offer!  Hazel is also toilet trained and knows how to use a doggie door to go outside.  Hazel isn’t keen on being left alone for long periods of times, we feel that a retired, part -time or work from home scenario would be ideal for Hazel.  Hazel would also love to have a back yard where she can poke around the back garden and sunbake in a warm cosy corner of your yard.
