💙 Craig – A Loyal Companion Looking for His Special Someone

Craig is a nearly 9-year-old Dachshund with a big heart and a story that deserves a happy ending. This sweet boy hasn’t had the easiest start to life, but with the love and patience of his current owners, he’s come a long way — and now he’s ready to find a calm, understanding forever home where he can truly thrive.

Craig has previously experienced some back issues, which were successfully managed with medication. He’s been doing very well since and enjoys a comfortable, happy life. Like many Dachshunds, he’s protective of his home and doesn’t appreciate unfamiliar people — especially men — entering his home. He has been known to nip when confronting a stranger at the front door, so he’ll need an experienced Dachshund person who understands their unique behaviours and can manage introductions carefully.

In his everyday life, Craig is an absolute sweetheart. He adores his humans and loves nothing more than to follow them from room to room — he’s affectionately known as his owner’s shadow. He enjoys a gentle sniff around the backyard and walks at his own pace, taking in all the interesting smells along the way.

Craig would thrive in a home where he can be the centre of attention, surrounded by his people and included in daily life. He would do best with someone who is home more often than not, as he can become anxious when left alone. Craig would be happiest as the only dog in the household, where he can enjoy all the love and attention to himself. He has recently lived alongside a gentle, submissive dog and a cat, but truly shines when he doesn’t have to share his humans.

Craig is simply searching for someone patient and kind — someone who will offer him love, consistency, and understanding. In return, he will reward you with unwavering loyalty, devoted companionship, and a heart full of love for the rest of his days.
