Meet Devon, our newest farmhand! He joined us three weeks ago and has settled into farm life beautifully. He still needs a little training around the cattle and horses, but he has already promoted himself to chief co-pilot on the tractor and quad bike. At this rate, he’ll be asking for the keys next!
When he’s off duty, Devon loves the backyard and spends hours “hunting” lizards and birds. He hasn’t caught one yet, but that hasn’t cooled his enthusiasm—or his confidence! Indoors, he’s equally committed to farm life: chilling in his bed in the sun or cuddling up for a movie or the footy.
At night, Devon sleeps in his own bed in our bedroom, and he’s already a hit with the walking group he joins three times a week. His lead work improves with every outing, and he’s now enrolled in local obedience training. He knows his name and has mastered sit, heel and circle work. “Drop” is proving a little tricky when you have such short legs, while “come” remains more of a friendly suggestion than a command!
Devon has brought so much life and joy into our lives, and we can’t imagine the farm without him.
