Introducing Gunther, a real independent spirit who loves to live life at his own pace. A true dachshund through and through, Gunther’s favourite pastimes include simply basking in the warm sun, going on an adventure in your backyard, and hunting for lizards during the warm months.

When it’s colder, you can find Gunther being a couch potato, snuggled up in his jacket for warmth.

Gunther’s sense of adventure extends outside the boundaries of the home. Tagged as the perfect travel buddy, he loves going for long drives, particularly when the destination is the beach! Also not to be missed is the excitement he displays on his trips to Petstock, where he absolutely adores observing cats and other animals. However, do note his aversions to hoses, vacuum cleaners, and blower vacs – Gunther much prefers his peace and quiet.

Meal times for Gunther are an event in themselves! He absolutely loves his food, barking with anticipation while his meal is being prepared. He patiently waits in his crate for his mealtime, which often includes treats like Hill’s Science Diet small and mini perfect weight biscuits, Big Dog Kanga Pattie’s with steamed fresh veggies, and his favourite treats – watermelon and blueberries.

Gunther’s previous home was dedicated to his training. He even attended training sessions with a canine dog trainer at Lake Weeroona, where he learned to walk well on the leash. At home, he’s used to a doggy door and has even been trained to use a ramp to reach the couch.

Gunther would thrive best in a quiet country setting, as city noise might be a bit overwhelming for him. His most ideal environment is a home where he can be adored by those around him. Ideally, his new family should not have children under 10, as he hasn’t lived with young children before.

In conclusion, Gunther is an independent boy, who is seeking a loving home. This is a very reluctant rehoming. We think Gunther will thrive being the only dog in the home where his humans can fuss over him. He has been impeccably cared for by his previous owners. ## notes from Gunther s foster carer

He is a good house guest  and good boy. We are currently caring for him and I’ve never know a dach who’s the perfect mix of Mr Independent and Mr Snuggle on the Sofa and who loves to sleep all night in his own bed/crate. He likes his own company as well as human company and it took me by surprise as my elderly girl who I lost recently had the “sep” so I kinda thought it’s a “dachshund anxious Velcro dog thing” he’s actually very happy to do things on his own around the house. He has all the doggy things he needs in life (toys, car seats, coats, leads, blankets etc) and his health and training has always been the priority for his owner whos exceptionally cared for Gunther – especially with good quality nutritional needs. He is a lean fit boy who loves a walk and easy to manage on a lead and house broken. Please please obviously only communicate with DRA regarding MR G, But I felt an extra character reference could help him find his forever home
