Teddy has a big personality in a small body and definitely likes to be the boss, so he will do best as an only dog or with a gentle small female dog who is happy to let him take the lead. He can be anxious around large dogs, so a home without them is ideal.

He’s a wonderful little watchdog, often barking at unexpected noises or new visitors—he takes his job of keeping you safe very seriously! Once settled, his affectionate and playful side shines through, revealing a truly fun, spirited companion.

Teddy is great with older children, but young children can make him nervous due to their unpredictable movements. He gets along well with small female dachshunds and has been around cats with no issues. He’s incredibly food motivated, which makes training enjoyable and rewarding.

While he may be anxious around unfamiliar people, especially men, with patience and kindness he will warm up and show you his full, loving personality. Teddy is toilet trained and crate trained, though he may mark his territory around food or male dogs—something common in little lads like him.

Teddy would flourish in a home with someone who is around often and looking for a devoted companion to share their days. With time, understanding, and gentle guidance, he will repay you with endless love, loyalty, and cuddles.
