Walter — Waiting for his Forever Home ❤️

Walter is a beautiful Dachshund who is looking for a very special person or family who will give him the time, patience and understanding he needs to truly flourish.

Walter is currently in foster care, where he has been given the opportunity to decompress and work through some of his issues in a safe and supportive environment. He is improving every day and, little by little, he is coming out of his shell and showing his foster family the loving dog underneath his nervousness.

Walter was a very nervous boy, so his new home will need to be patient and understanding. He needs someone who understands Dachshunds, their quirks and their strong personalities, and who is prepared to provide gentle guidance, consistency and clear boundaries.

Ideally, Walter needs someone who is home most of the time and can give him the companionship and reassurance he needs. He isn’t looking for a busy household where he will be left alone for long periods. He needs someone who will allow him to settle at his own pace and celebrate the small steps as his confidence grows.

Walter has shown that he can happily be in the company of another dog when matched with the right temperament. A calm, compatible canine companion could potentially be a wonderful support for him.

Behind his nervousness, Walter has shown himself to be a very loving and loyal little dog. He is simply looking for someone who will see his potential, give him the time he deserves and help him discover just how wonderful life can be.

Walter won’t be the dog who walks into your home and immediately has everything figured out. But for the right person, watching him blossom and become confident could be incredibly rewarding.
