Jesse & Rommel ( 7 years old) ACT
I am so grateful to have been able to rescue Rommel and Jesse. From the very moment I met them, I felt an instant connection, and I think they felt it too as they sat at my feet and stared at me the whole time. They bring so much happiness and joy and there’s never a boring day. It took some time for them to settle into a new routine, but they feel so comfortable and at home now, as if they’ve been with me all along. They are the cutest, most handsome, goodest boys. I can’t wait to spend our first Christmas together and many more celebrations to come!

Volly – Melbourne
The team at DRA have helped us complete our fur family! When we first saw Volly online we knew he was the one for us. Andrea was very open about his background and some of the issues he was facing and provided us with helpful tidbits about how to support him so he felt comfortable and at home. Within a week, he was doing zoomies around the kitchen and demanding cuddles on the couch. Thank you to Dachshund Rescue Australia, we couldn’t imagine not having Volly.

Freddie (3yr) SE QLD
"After a bumpy start Freddie is doing really well. He loves spending time at home, sunbaking and having lots of belly rubs. He’s very cuddly and always wants to be close.
He loves playing with his favourite toys and chewsticks and doing Pilates with me on the reformer.
Christmas was a standout for Freddie. He loved all of the presents, attention and special doggy food. He loves coming for a swim in the pool with us and being on his pool float.
He finds being outside of the house really overwhelming, but loves visitors and small walks and outings when there are no other dogs around.
He’s adapted really well and has made two little dachshund friends to keep him company a few days a week. I think He is pretty happy with his new life with us. He is the sweetest, caring little boy."
Paisley
When Paisley first came home with us, it was clear that she had been through more than her fair share. She was easily frightened, anxious and especially wary of men. But it didn’t take long for her true nature to begin shining through. Within just a week, she started to show us how incredibly sweet and loving she really was. Small moments of trust turned into cuddles that told us she was beginning to feel safe. Over the next couple of months, she continued to blossom. As she settled in, she slowly realised that this home was forever, that every meal wouldn’t be her last and that love wasn’t something she had to earn or fear losing. With that reassurance came her confidence, comfort and yes… a much healthier, well-fed little dachshund who has clearly embraced regular meals and treats!
