My successfully re-homed story is coming very soon

Herbie and Garlic came in to DRA for rehoming after we were contacted by the wonderful people at the RSPCA who had retrieved them from a puppy mill. Although we were not expecting to rehome them together, a beautiful family who came forward for Garlic decided to also adopt Herbie as well. Herbie and Garlic came from horrific conditions with no interaction or kindness from humans. Herbie and Garlic are now living on a rural property with another dachshund Otis who is helping them to gain their confidence and show them that their new family are loving and kind. Slowly and surely they are starting to come out of their shells. Garlic being a little bit more confident is now happy for a few pats and will allow the grandchildren to lie next to him. Herbie is a curious little girl but when things get a little overwhelming she will retreat back to her safe zone. Everyday Garlic and Herbie are being exposed to new things such as watching Otis have a bath and spending time with the cats. With the guidance and patience of their new owners we are hopeful that these beautiful little souls will one day be able to enjoy the simple pleasures of being a loved dachshund.

“After losing my 17 year old dachshund early this year I have been heartbroken. I feel the universe has sent me Pinot as he is slowly helping me recover from my heartbreak and grief. Pinot is like a little pocket rocket with so much love to give. It was love at first sight for us, he is so mini, cute and has a crazy character. He has the cutest little quirks that melt my heart. He has fitted into our family so well like he has always lived with us. Both my partner and I work from home so he loves that we can spend all day with him. He has so much fun during our lunchtime walks. He also loves standing on our pool deck barking at the birds and sun-baking. He is loving his new Gold Coast lifestyle. My immediate family owns dachshunds so he has loved mingling with his new dachshund brothers and sisters. Pinot has been the perfect addition to our family and can’t imagine life without him. “

My successfully re-homed story is coming very soon

Hugo is a loving dachshund who has bonded with his new owner in only a matter of days. Hugo has a new dachshund brother Pickles and the boys enjoy their rumbles, tumbles and playtime. When Pickles has had enough, he takes himself off for some time out and Hugo seeks his new owners lap for cuddles. Hugo suffers from some skin conditions and needs to put on some weight so will be receiving a care package shortly with some Rose Hip Vital to help imporove his overall wellbeing.

After suddenly losing our much loved rescue dachshund Milli last year, we were very much missing her love and cuddles. Our house seemed so quiet and empty. So after 10 years, we approach DRA again for another opportunity to give a little girl a forever home. I am very glad to say we were lucky enough to be offered Kiwi (now Maggie) a little 9-month-old chocolate Dachshund. It was love at first sight for all of us. But just as a dachshund typically does, she initially barked at us. Then it was all cuddles and kisses from there on. Once at home, Maggie explored the house and yard and then settled in as though she had lived here forever. That night she just curled up in her bed and we never heard a peep from her until the next morning. My wife and I are not the only ones that are in love with this little girl, our little granddaughters are just as much in love. They are constantly asking to go and see Maggie, who is always excited to greet them by bouncing and running circles around them ready to play. The last 2 weeks with Maggie has just been so wonderful. As we are both retired, we can spend the days with her ensuring she becomes familiar with her new home. We would like to thank Maggie's first parents for effort they put into training her, she is just perfect with only a little work to be done at the doggie parks. Lastly I must give a very big thank you to Andie (DRA) for giving us the opportunity to give Maggie a new forever home, we will be forever grateful! everyone at D.R.A are overjoyed with this happily ever after. ax

Figgy's new owners sadly had the heartbreak of losing their previous little dachshund to complications following IVDD surgery, so Figgy has been just what they have needed to help heal their hearts. They are now all enjoying daily beach walks, snuggles on the couch in front of the tv and Figgy is loving having a a border collie as his big brother. Figgy also has a severe allergy to bee's, so we are thrilled that his new owners both work in Veterinary fields and have the expertise to manage his condition should he be stung.
