Barbie, (was called Beauty) was given as a gift to an elderly lady who contacted us to see if we could find her a new home....poor Barbie, she was much loved and when we profiled her one of the applications really stood out. Enter Janine and her family, whose hearts were still mending after the passing of their senior dachshund. Well.......what a change for Barbie! Barbie even had a video made of her which we just adored. Barbie is now living a life filled with much play and weekend outtings. They love watching her play and have enabled her to live her young life to the fullest. Go Barbie!

Penny's owner's circumstances changed, leaving less time to devote to her. DRA are pleased she has been welcomed with open arms by Maureen and family. They made the road trip from interstate to meet her. Penny has had all her vet work attended too. It was a slow start, she was a timid girl. Over time, Penny has warmed up and enjoys her twice daily walks to the local creek. Penny is welcomed inside and has a nice back garden to play in. Maureen reports back, penny is a very fast walker, loves her big soft cushions, responds well to her name and loves the dice beef treats! They are loving having a dachshund in the house again.

Gorgeous 7 month old Winston who is now living life to the full.  From the moment he walked into this home he knew he wanted to stay.  He also rather cleverly knew that he needed to be on his best behaviour to gain the approval of the resident female dachshunds.  For such an excited little boy he did really well and then couldn't believe his luck, when for the first time in his life he started to have daily walks where he would meet the other local dogs, people and children.  Being trained to sleep in a crate at night wasn't really an issue as at the end of the day Winston was too tired to protest.  He's still a mischievous puppy though and he thought he might be able to hurry up Mum with the dinner, by hiding in the pantry amongst the dog food.  Unfortunately the pantry door is now firmly shut, so I daresay Winston will find some new tricks which work to his benefit. "We are the luckiest people in Tasmania! We have had Winston for a month and he is a wonderful dog, a credit to his previous owner. He loves a cuddle above all else, even above his food and walks! We now know all our neighbourhood through the charisma of Winston. We cant even remember life pre Winston now. Thank you Dachshund Rescue, we couldnt be happier!

There was/is an old lady called Fudge, who loves to give you a Nudge. When she wants you to pat her, her nose comes straight at yer Until you give in with a hug. 😊 Thank you to D.R.A for organizing the re-homing of Fudge to us. As you can see Fudge is enjoying the next chapter of her life with us...WE LOVE YOU MADAME FUDGE. 💓

We have had "Frankie" from the Central Coast, now known as Frank (short for Franklin/Frankenstein etc.) for 8 weeks and she is a very happy girl. She loves the beach, she loves swimming and she is happy to go on long car trips to meet the grandchildren and their big dogs - retriever, Labrador and Alsatian/wolfhound! She is learning to walk in a relaxed manner, and is learning to sniff and not panic about getting home. She is still besotted with balls and is miffed that we have blocked all the hiding places so that she no longer calls for help to rescue them! She is much more settled and now socialises well with 90% of dogs that she meets. She now only barks when excited or when she thinks somebody/something is going to attack us! Her bark is the only BIG thing about her, I wish we had volume control!! We are very pleased that we decided to adopt. Thank you for all your help. Seasons greetings to you.

Freddie has many people to thank who helped him along the way. Emergency transport by Max, foster carers Kylie and Ted. And lastly his new adopter mummy drove in excess of 2100 km on a road trip to meet and take him home. While in foster care he was desexed, vaccinated and teeth cleaned, Ted had a few trips to the vet as the little man was a tad interested in his stitches. DRA are so thankful to these "guardian angels" that come forward often at hours notice. You really make a difference! Freddie has an older rescue brother to keep him company and a walking buddy. His new home up north is to his liking it didn't take long to feel at home. It never ceases to amaze the team how adoptable these little souls are often taking things in their stride when their world is turned upside down.

Happy has found his forever home with a retired couple who live in the eastern Wheatbelt of Western Australia. His new owners are thrilled with his progress, and he has made their lives much happier. They had been looking for quite some time for a new fur baby, having lost their last one some time ago. Happy has become Bill's shadow and helps him out in the vegetable garden, he also loves to play ball at the local oval, always keeping Bill in sight. Thanks to the team at Dachshund Rescue Australia Happy has a wonderful new home and his new owners have a lovely boy they can spoil rotten.
