Mabel came to DRA quite stressed and anxious, although very keen to closely bond with anyone who was keen to shower her with love and affection. Some dachie owners are in the fortunate position of being able to take their dogs to work, and Mabels new owner now brings his dachie Marlo and also Mabel into work with him most days. To say they rule the roost we think is an understatement! Sweet Mabel is starting to really come out of her shell, and Marlo is also settling into sharing the spotlight now. She is up each day at the crack of dawn and out for their daily walk, then they all head into the Office.(oh, and if you are ever needing new tyres, Missy Mabel and Marlo are hanging out now at Kumho Tyres in Dandenong South...no doubt you will be welcomed with the typical dachie bark and maybe a dachie cuddle)

Slinky has finally found a wonderful home after a bit of a false start. He needed a thorough health check and some dental work before going to his new home, but despite his shaky start, Ian and his family decided that they were prepared to accept his imperfections. Ian writes "We decided to stick by him, not only did he need us but I think our family needed him. We were ready for another sausage after our girl daisy passed away on new years eve . Fast forward a few weeks of caring for him properly and also receiving a lot of support from dachshund rescue this little guy is living his best life . He is totally settled in and is so affectionate. He loves being with everyone of us , he's enjoying 2 walks a day and also loves spending time with the other 2 Wieners in the family who are my wife's parents dogs both previously rescued through dachshund rescue. His teeth are now clean , his skin has improved greatly and he had a scan on his heart and it isn't as bad as first thought." Thanks to Ian and his family for giving this lovely boy a second chance. Rosie had her vet work done in foster carer, She has such a sweet nature, everyone fell in love with Rosie. Rosie adopted by a young couple she has a dachshund brother for company. A life snuggling and playing, what more could a girl want! The big wide world awaits for Rosie, she especially loved going to the beach, sensory overload, so much to sniff!

Due to a change in living circumstances Otis found himself looking for a new home. He was used to having 2 other dogs for company and he did suffer from separation anxiety so we needed to find him a home with a doggy friend and people who were home most of the time. We found a wonderful lady who works part time and owned a fox terrier. She had also owned a dachshund who recently passed away . After a successful meet and greet Otis soon settled into his new home . His new owner writes " Just would like to take the time to thank Dachshund Adoption, so professional and easy to talk to. I now have a beautiful boy Otis to love for the rest of his life and more. He has filled our lives, he is very happy. " A very happy boy with his new owner who has obviously fallen in love with him.

It was love at first sight from the moment we saw Kiki on the DRA website and the stars aligned with her joining our family soon after. WoW what an absolute Angel she is. The whole process has been amazingly supportive and Kiki has settled in well with her new sibling “Pepper”. Their days start with a morning walk, followed by hours snuggling in their snuggle sacks, then finish with another walk before they visit everyone in the house for some love and attention. What an AMAZING breed of dogs, so loving and caring. Thank You to the Amazing DRA for your care and support and for making the process such a great experience. Thank you, little family we are, all thrilled for you.

My successfully re-homed story is coming very soon

Poppy found herself in need of a home, this anxious girl needed company. RSPCA ACT had her with a wonderful foster carer. Dachshund Rescue were more than happy to help this tiny tot find her forever home. Fortunately we have some wonderful families that have an ongoing relationship with DRA. One such family, were her new adopters,they had sadly lost a dachshund and Benji was pining terribly without his mate. On paper we thought poppy might help heal Benji's broken heart. Jane and Tim did a road trip to meet poppy, all went swimmingly and she was promptly on her way home to their farm. Poppy has loved having people around, open spaces, fresh air and best of all Benji by her side. Poppy's former owners are over the moon seeing her so relaxed and not at all stressed. It's very rewarding seeing rescues work together with an outstanding outcome for Poppy.

From the moment I saw Millie’s photo on the Dashund Australia Rescue page. I knew that she was going to be a perfect fit for our family. I was so excited when I got the call asking if we were interested in having a meet and greet with her. we knew she had some challenges but from the moment our other puppy met her I could tell they were gonna be great friends. And they are. They love exploring the acreage and going on daily walks together. We love Lilah it’s as though she has always been apart of our family.
